Our Founder, Gertrude Nelson

Ms. Gertrude Nelson is a native of Rockland County, New York. She was a teenage mother; and as such Gertrude developed a love for the welfare of children and their parents, especially teenage parents. In 1983 Ms. Nelson took the negative experiences of her life and turned them into positive results. She was able to accomplish that task with the help of her home church, Redeeming Love Christian Center, located in Nanuet, New York and with the mentors who entered her life to help her grow spiritually.

In 1990 she founded M.T.M. Christian Child Care and Early Learning Center, a local home-based childcare center. In 2009, the name was changed to Jehovah Child Care and Early Learning Center.

In October 2016, she published her first book entitled, “Teenage Alternative: You Don’t Have to Stay There.” It’s an amazing and beautiful story of God’s healing power, a story of letting go of the hurts that hold one back and letting go of the past. Her story is one of grit, faith and determination.
